White noise sounds may help with sleep, studying, concentration, meditation, and more.
These white noise audios are free to download for personal use only.
For any playback issues, read these tips.
You can likewise use this site's design as a template for your own site, as long as you comply
with above site's Creative Commons license (e.g. provide prominent credit to this site OR that original source, AND make your creation shareable under the same license).
2. The audios on this website are all for personal use only,
unless otherwise noted. In most cases,
I did not obtain licenses for anything beyond personal use by
end-users. HOWEVER, there are some exceptions that can be used for commercial use,
all of which you'll find here.

4. All editing of this website, and the audios and images on it,
was done using FOSS software.
Tips for you:
• Personal use:
Most white noise audios on this site are licensed for personal use only. If you're looking for commercial use,
try here.
• Use headphones or speakers with good bass
for best experience. But for the sake of your eardrums, don't set the volume any louder than needed.
• If you notice gaps/pauses in the audio, click here.
• To save sounds to your device for offline listening:
Click "↓" next to the track you want. Or if you'd like to save your mix of sounds, you can use a program like
Audacity
to record your computer sound output. Alternatively, as long as you've already listened to your desired audio mix for a couple minutes,
you should be able to disconnect from the Internet and continue listening.
If you'd like to save a sound mix for future online access, click "link" under the player to get a bookmark.
• To download homepage to your computer for offline use:
Create a folder on your computer and download these files into it:
1,
2,
3,
4.
Then create three subfolders, one called "pics", one called "audios", and one called "fonts".
Into the
/pics folder, download these images:
1,
2,
3,
4,
5,
6,
7,
8,
9.
Into the /fonts folder, download:
1,
2,
3.
And into the /audios folder, download the 2-minute version of every audio
from this site's homepage (or at least the ones you want). Some other steps are optional.
Finally, use your web browser to open (ctrl-o) index.html.
• If you're on an iPhone or iPad:
Your device will likely disable this page's audio when its screen locks.
There may be hacky workarounds (e.g. temporarily set brightness way down and set auto-lock to never), but my suggestion is: once you've found a white noise
you like, download its MP3 to your device and listen to it with an audio player rather than web browser. VOX is one example of an audio player that loops MP3's without pauses.
Tip for me?
I love working on projects like this, but they take a lot of time.
If you've benefited from this site and would like to BuyMeACoffee, that would be very much appreciated!

• Use headphones or speakers with good bass
to maximize sound blocking benefits of white noise. But for the health of your hearing, don't set the volume any louder than you need to.
• If you notice gaps/pauses while listening:
First try listening on a different browser/device. If that's not convenient, download your favorite white noise to your device, and then loop it on a gapless audio player. On Windows and Linux, Audacious works well. On iPhone/iPad, VOX Player works well.

Hearing gaps/pauses?
Some browsers/devices pause for a split second each time
an audio loops, which is annoying. This is more common on mobile devices, less common on desktops/laptops. Some suggestions:
1) If listening on a desktop/laptop is convenient, try that.
2) Play two audios simultaneously to make the gap softer. Just wait 10+ seconds before starting the second audio.
3) Once you find an audio you like, download it to your device and play it on a seamless looping audio player. On Windows and Linux,
Audacious works well. On iPhone/iPad, VOX Player works well.
4) If above aren't convenient, try the white noise machine.
It has less sound options, but is seamless.

When phones/tablets dim their screens, they stop web timers. So it's probably better
to use your device's built-in clock/alarm rather than this timer.
To use this timer, you'd need to temporarily change your screen timeout to be
longer than the timer setting. If you'd like to do that:
Please click "Start Machine" and wait a few seconds for audios to load.
If you keep seeing this error message,
please tell me.
Optional steps for downloading website:
1. Want the samples?
If you want the sample links to work, you can download the sample audios here.
Save them all to the /audios folder.
2. Want the bookmark feature? By default, the bookmark
feature will link to this website online. To link to your offline page, use any text editor to open index.html. Find the line that
starts with "var bookmarkstring", and change the "https://wnoise.org/?" to the path to index.html
on your computer, followed by a question mark. Here's an example of how the new line might look: var bookmarkstring = "C:\Users\itsme\Documents/index.html?";
3. To override the 5 second wait when adding tracks to the audio mixer
(that delay isn't necessary offline where load times will be instant), once again open index.html with a text editor. Then find this text:
Number(checkstarttimevalue.innerHTML)) > 3000)
and change 3000 to a small number like 5.
White noise for your projects
When I initially created this site, I only obtained rights to offer the white noise sounds for personal use by end users. Therefore,
almost all white noise audios on this website are for personal use only.
However, I'm working on another page with more flexibility. So far,
all the sounds listed on this site's subpage at "white-noise-sounds.html" (likely the page you're on now) are in the public domain.
That means you can use them for commercial projects, and you don't even need to provide credit.
All those particular white noise MP3's are about 5 minutes long, but I've made them loopable. So if you need 10, 15, 30 or more minutes,
just copy and paste your desired clip(s) end-to-end in an editor like Audacity.
I haven't created a donation link yet, but thank you for the thought🙏 In the meantime, if you have any
suggestions that would make this site more useful for you, please let me know.
Please wait 5 seconds before clicking "▸" again.

This audio is approximately 5 minutes. But I made it loopable, so if you need 10, 15, or more minutes,
you should be able to copy/paste it end-to-end in an audio editor like Audacity.
If you hear any clicking after doing this, try cross-fading about 1 second on each side of the seams.

If you're downloading the full homepage, then just get the 2-minute audio because that's what this site's mixer uses.
And the 2-minute version should also loop well in most audio players. However, if you notice
any clicking or pausing when your audio player loops, you can download the 10-minutes to limit that.
